UM-Dearborn Interns at No Cost
With support from the Ford Motor Company Fund, the University of Michigan-Dearborn is able to place college interns in your entrepreneurial organization at no charge to the organization. The program is designed to give a UM-Dearborn student applied experience working in an environment where they are exposed to entrepreneurial concepts, making an impact in the community, and applying their educational knowledge and skills.

There is currently no deadline for application but the opportunities may disappear quickly so find out more or make an application at  http://umdilabs.com/intern.

New Enterprise Forum's
Pitch Pit

Before you spend your grandmother's life savings on it, vet your business idea in front of an expert panel and an encouraging audience. If selected, you and three other entrepreneurs will each give a four-minute pitch about their startup business ideas to a panel of seasoned judges. The four-minute presentation should explain the business and why customers will buy your product or service. Get constructive feedback in what steps to consider in moving your business idea forward.

And, win a cash prize! The judges award the cash prize to the best presentation. Starting with a $100 pot, a suggested $5 per person donation adds to the cash prize. Bring your family, friends, and colleagues to drive up the cash prize and enthusiasm. The audience also gets in on the act by voting for their favorite business concept resulting in a bragging rights 'Audience Favorite' title. For details and to apply, go to http://bit.ly/JoRc2o.

Applications received before Dec 31, 2013 will be considered for the January NEF launch of the Pitch Pit in a breakout session from 4-5 p.m. at ACE  on Jan 30. The four entrepreneurs will be notified by Jan 13.

GLEQ Submissions Due Today by 5 p.m.
The GLEQ Business Plan Competition winds up another round today and submissions are due in by 5 p.m. today.  The judging will get underway shortly and prizes will be announced at the Fourteenth Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurship (ACE'14) on January 30 at Burton Manor in Livonia – http://www.ACE-event.org .

Be Considered for the ACE Elevator Pitch Competition
Each year at the Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurship (ACE) six lucky entrepreneurs are chosen to compete in the evening program by putting their best elevator pitch forward.  The last two winners of the coveted ACE Pitch Cup encourage up and coming entrepreneurs to throw their hats in the ring.

ACE'13 Elevator Pitch Competition winner David Fuehrer (CEO of CureLauncher) said, "Winning the ACE pitch competition was a springboard in CureLauncher's path to commercialization.  We established investor contacts that led to successfully closing our funding round.  ACE is an exceptional event and an important resource for entrepreneurs and innovators."

ACE'12 Elevator Pitch Competition winner Laura Schrader (CEO of 3D Biomatrix, Inc.) said, "Entering and winning the ACE pitch competition was not only great PR for us as a young company; it was also great to hone our ever-important "pitch". Having just a tiny window to get – and keep – a new prospect's attention, it has been key for us to have our pitch down pat so they come back for more."

Apply today and you could win with great media exposure, your company name engraved on the cup and a professionally filmed version of your 3-minute elevator pitch.  The six participants will get a free exhibit table at ACE'14 and admission for 2 other colleagues.
